Early Iowa Oil Company Gas Station - Circa 1924

WELCOME! We all have our favorite brands and logos to collect, my favorite is the Iowa Oil Company (IOCO), who has served the Tri-State Area faithfully since 1905 (Headquarted in Dubuque, Iowa). This company still survives today as a marketer, though they were a great independent early on in the 20th century. Historically, IOCO is one of the oldest oil companies in the midwest. They were also the VERY FIRST independent Cities Service distributor. They were honored by Cities Service in 1955 as they celebrated their 50th year! (See Article Below) Oddly, this company was started by a group of local boating enthusists who needed a quality fuel for thier boats on the Mississipi River. Word spread of the quality, and alas in 1905 two floating service stations were placed on the Mississipi. Eventually the growing popularity of the automobile would push IOCO into the streets of Dubuque! Today, IOCO exists as a premier oil company in the midwest, with many stations spanning throughout several states. Please take the time to read all about the company, and view their neat items that they used to market their quality products. Information is all of the sudden flying in so this page will be updated very often. More pictures of items will be added soon (after a trip home from college, i go to school 3 hours from home.) when the photos are ready. Please contact Nathan Lippe if you have or know of items or information from this company!
